Centurion Announces 2010 World Wake Surfing Championships

Planning for the next World Wake Surfing Championships in under way with the event expected to take place in July 2010. Dialogue wit ha number of potential sites has been engaged to potentially facilitate TV coverage.

The city of Minneapolis has expressed keen interest in adding the World Championship event to its Aquatennial Celebration, a 10 day festival including numerous water sports activities that get daily regional TV coverage as well as national media attentsion. The Aquatennial began in 1940 and attracts over 800,000 people. There have been several pro tournaments in the proposed location and integrating the World Wakesurfing Championships into the Aquatennial Celebration would elevate the sport and thrust it into the limelight.
Other locations are also under consideration
In addition to coordinating an event in a prime location with proper amenities, event objectives include record prize money, drive attraction to key sponsors and broad media coverage.
Centurion’s website will be updated with information as well as athlete registration materials.
